Back by popular demand! A three-part series focusing on blending botanicals into tasty tonics. Register on this page for the series, or follow links to register for classes a la carte.

Blending the ancient world of botanical medicine with that of the modern bar mixologist, this class develops a flavorful and healing balance between the nasty tasting tinctures of the past and cocktails loaded with sugar at your local bar. All sessions include lectures, and hands-on projects with recipes and samples to take home.

All sessions will be held on the NUNM campus and are limited to 20 participants. Must be 21 or older.

Class Sessions

Hot Toddies, Mulled Wines and Heated Herbal Spirits | Monday, February 13, 2017, 6 – 9 p.m.
Many traditions hold that a little nip helps fight off whatever ails you. This class will cover tasty ways to enhance that prescription. We will make hot toddies and mull herbs in wine and cider, adding medicinal herbs to tea and spirits for classic winter wellness drinks. 3.0 hours of general CEUs (OBNM) to be applied for.

Bitters, Digestives and Aperitifs | Monday, March 20, 2017, 6 – 9 p.m.
Bitter herbs have a long history of being used as a stimulating digestive aid. In this class we will focus on the rebirth of bitters, and work to create several delicious modern bitters. 3.0 hours of general CEUs (OBNM) to be applied for.

Herbal Root Beers | Monday, April 17, 2017, 6 – 9 p.m.
The original root beers were more than just tasty beverages, they were delivery systems for powerful herbs that support digestion and general health. This class will review the history and medicinal uses of root beers, and we’ll make our own non-alcoholic brews using updated recipes. 3.0 hours of general CEUs (OBNM) to be applied for.

Dr. Glen Nagel has spent 25 years studying medicinal and edible plants. He is a naturopathic physician and master herbal mixologist, focusing on creative flavor combinations and the healing properties of his medicinally inspired drinks and creations. His goal is to make herbal medicine tasty, fun and part of your everyday life.
