Blending the ancient world of botanical medicine with that of the modern bar mixologist, this class develops a flavorful and healing balance between the nasty tasting tinctures of the past and cocktails loaded with sugar at your local bar. All sessions include lectures and hands-on projects with recipes and samples to take home.

All sessions will be held on the NCNM campus and are limited to 25 participants. Must be 21 or older.

Bitters, Digestives and Aperitifs | Thursday, January 21, 2016, 6 – 9 p.m.
Bitter herbs have a long history of being used as a stimulating digestive aid. In this class we will focus on the rebirth of bitters, and work to create several delicious modern bitters. 3.0 hours of general CEUs to be applied for (OBNM). Register for this class

Liqueurs and Cordials | Thursday, February 18, 2016, 6 – 9 p.m.
Cordials are a tasty blend of sweet and alcoholic, a blend of classic tonic herbs for wellness. They are traditionally combined with brandy to create a warming and relaxing tonic. 3.0 hours of general CEUs to be applied for (OBNM).

Tonic and Other Bubbly Waters | Thursday, March 24, 2016, 6 – 9 p.m.
The world changed dramatically with the discovery of Cinchona bark, which was used for treatment and prevention of malaria. We have had since then have a love affair with the fever-tree bark, used in tonic water and other beverages. In this hands-on class we will work with Cinchona bark and create homemade tonic water. 3.0 hours of general CEUs to be applied for (OBNM)Register for this class.
